Fifty years of this lubrication journal

It is 50 years this coming October that E.V. Patterson recognised the need for a journal "devoted exclusively to the science and practice of lubrication" and founded the bi-monthly journal Scientific Lubrication. I have been an avid reader for over 30 years as it developed into its current format with the title Industrial Lubrication and Tribology. It has been a privilege to serve as editor for the last ten years. I leave it to others to celebrate the quinquagenary and take the journal on into the new millennium.
