New man at the top
Master Chemical Europe,the coolant management company, has a new managing director and board member. He is Simon Fanshawe, who originally joined the company in November 1996 as Director, Operations Development. Prior to that appointment he was retained as a consultant by both Master Chemical Europe and its parent, the Master Chemical Corporation, to advise on business development.
Simon's career has been focused on "hand-on" business management and corporate/strategic planning and has been largely within the engineering, manufacturing and chemical environments. During a service period of 14 years, he rose through the management ranks of BP, gaining an Executive MBA on the way. Most of this time was spent in the BP Group's Speciality Products Divisions. Latterly he established a business consultancy advising companies such as Master Chemical Europe on strategic development into, and within, Europe.
Since 1995 Hamish Mitchell had held the post of both managing director of Master Chemical Europe and Vice President, International Operations, Master Chemical Corporation. Simon's appointment allows Hamish to focus his energy on the burgeoning international business which is enjoying considerable growth, particularly in Asia. Hamish still remains a board member of Master Chemical Europe.
