Against a background of negative market growth, industry and exchange rate developments and uncertainties, the globally-active Mannheim-based lubricants company FUCHS PETROLUB AG has reported a slight increase in sales and stable operating results in the first nine months of 1998. Group sales increased by 2.5 per cent to DM 1,176 million (1,147). Disregarding special items, the first nine-month operating result remained at last year's record level. The rationalisation measures in France and Germany and other countries which were decided in the second half of 1998 will, however, result in significant provisions in the 1998 consolidated financial statements.
