New sensor from Pall measures and displays relative water saturation of oils

Keywords Sensors,Pall Industrial Hydraulics

The Pall Water Sensor is designed to detect water in solution in lubricating oils, fuel oil, hydraulic fluids and dielectric fluids. If cloudy due to high water contamination, the Pall sensor will display 100 per cent saturation until steps are taken to bring the water content to below the saturation point (see Plate 4).

Plate 4 New sensor from Pall Industrial Hydraulics measures and displays relative water saturation of oils

An LED displays percentage saturation, temperature or both, alternating every few seconds. At 90 per cent saturation it will flash to draw attention to the water contamination level. Output relay contacts can be set for high and normal water concentrations. These signals can be used for a remote alarm or to control operation of a Pall fluid purifier. The sensor can also be interfaced to a PLC to provide direct correlation of electrical current to percentage saturation and temperature.
