SKF has broadened its range of lubrication solutions by introducing the Oil Leveller LAHD series (see Plate 1). The Oil Levellers provide automatic adjustment for the optimal oil lubrication level during running conditions, rather than standstill, thus minimising machine downtime. By lubricating an application correctly, users optimise machine performance and increase the service life of applications, saving both time and money.
Plate 1SKF has broadened its range of lubrication solutions by introducing the Oil Leveller LAHD series
Designed for oil bath applications such as bearings, housings, gearboxes and crankcases, the Oil Leveller enables easy visual inspection and automatically compensates for oil leakage and evaporation losses.
SKF Oil Levellers operate through two linked reservoirs. The lower reservoir has the same oil level as the application with which it is in direct contact. Through a ventilation tube, the lower reservoir is also in contact with the ambient air. The upper reservoir is an airtight container which stores replacement oil. Through its extended neck, which dips into the oil of the lowest reservoir, the two reservoirs are in direct contact with each other. However, oil only flows from the upper to the lower reservoir once the oil level in the lower reservoir goes below the preset level, allowing air to flow through the extended neck to the upper reservoir.
Available in two sizes, 500ml and 1,000ml, the Oil Leveller extends lubrication intervals by compensating for evaporation losses. By correct and automatic lubrication, application downtime is minimized, thus saving on one of the largest running costs of a production plant.
