Indentec's hardness standardising laboratory has won UKAS accreditation for calibrating Brinell hardness test blocks for the low-load range to standard ISO6506. The award follows the commissioning of a digital standardising machine engineered and constructed for official calibration at Brinell test loads from 5 to 187.5kgf. Driven by customised software, the new system joins two similar touch-screen controlled standardising machines already accredited by UKAS for calibrating Rockwell and Vickers test blocks. The achievement means that the Stourbridge, UK, company now provides test blocks calibrated to national and international standards from its own resources for the three most widely used hardness scales.
