Keyword: DuPont

DuPont Fluoroproducts announced the completion of a previously announced US$50 million global capacity expansion programme in its DuPont Teflon PTFE fluoropolymer business that has increased global capacity by 30 per cent since 1999.

According to DuPont Fluoroproducts, the expansion programme was primarily focused on Teflon fine powder and dispersion resins, and included investment in both facilities and state-of-the-art technology. Most of the investment was directed toward the DuPont Parkersburg, West Virginia, USA facility, the largest fluoropolymer manufacturing facility in the world. Upgrades also were implemented at the DuPont fluoropolymer manufacturing sites in Dordrecht, The Netherlands, and Shimizu, Japan.

"Expanding the global capacity for DuPont Teflon will allow us to meet the increasing demand for PTFE and reinforce our position as the longtime leader among fluoropolymer producers. Improving our PTFE production facilities in the three regions helps us ensure that customers around the world have the products they require", says Natalia Kasyanova – European product manager for Teflon PTFE, DuPont Fluoroproducts, Geneva.

During 2002, DuPont is celebrating its 200th anniversary. The invention of revolutionary products such as Teflon is characteristic of the 200-year tradition of innovation at DuPont. The performance benefits and technological advances that Teflon has brought to markets ranging from housewares to semiconductor manufacturing have played a key role in shaping today's modern lifestyle.
