Rhodia introduces the Rhodafac ASI line of aluminium corrosion inhibitors

Rhodia is launching Rhodafac ASI corrosion inhibitors specifically designed to prevent aluminum staining resulting from exposure to alkaline metal working lubricants.

"We have developed these new Rhodafac products with a focus on high technical performance, and they indeed provide excellent protection for all aluminum surfaces", says Pascal Juery, Vice President/ Executive Director for Rhodia's Metal Treatment business. "Ease of use in formulation is also key and our Rhodafacs present a high compatibility with metal working lubricant concentrates, without interfering with the fluid application properties."

Rhodafac ASI products are based on modified alkyl phosphonate structures,which interact with aluminum surfaces to provide optimum corrosion protection. They exhibit high thermal and chemical stability thanks to their phosphonate structure.

Two grades are available:

• Rhodafac ASI-80, a 80 per cent active liquid grade; and

• Rhodafac ASI-100, a 100 per cent active solid grade

Applications cover water-based metal working lubricants, metal cleaning formulations and temporary protection fluids.

Rhodia offers a large range of high-performing surfactants and polymers for metal treatment applications, such as surface treatment, metal working, metal drawing and hydraulic fluids, sold under the Rhodafac, Lubrophos, Rhodasurf and Geropon trade names.
