One of Carl Duerr's first moves on taking over at Bonser Engineering — the Nottingham‐based fork lift truck makers — was to put a shop‐floor worker on the board. But although American‐born Duerr — who specialises in reviving ailing companies — believes in management by acceptance, he reserves the right to make the decisions. “The minute you put things out for votes, then you've got anarchy,” he tells Ken Gooding.
