Rising labour costs have made overstaffed offices an unwelcome luxury. Yet the ad hoc use of “temps” to handle peaks in the work load can often hinder rather than help office routine. Clare Copeland, vice president (office overload division) of Drake International — the staff contracting and consultancy group — offers one solution: a “flexible” staffing system which, he says, combines economy with efficiency.
