Decision Support Systems (DSS) have special merits for organisations in developing countries. Conditions in which DSS development and implementation became viable and effective in developed countries such as the US are described. The lack of DSS applications in the Republic of China (Taiwan) are discussed and DSS implementation recommendations are presented for organisations in Taiwan and other countries with similar economic and cultural conditions. In formulating these recommendations, introducing DSS into an organisation is considered as an internal transfer of technology.
