A carbon fibre sulfoaluminate cement composite was prepared by a casting process. The temperature capacitance effects of carbon fibre on the sulfoaluminate cement composite with different carbon fibre content were investigated, and the stability and reversibility of the temperature capacitance effect were discussed. The experimental results indicated that the fractional change amplitude in capacitance of the composite with 0·5% carbon fibre by weight was greatest when the temperature increased from −40°C to 60°C. The fractional change in capacitance with increasing temperature was determined by the change of electron and ion relaxation polarisation. It was found that the reversibility of the temperature capacitance was very good in the heat cycle experiment, and the stability of the temperature capacitance effect was also very good in the constant temperature experiment. Therefore, it was concluded that carbon fibre sulfoaluminate cement composite with 0·5% carbon fibre had the advantage of developing temperature-controlled apparatus, based on its temperature capacitance effect.
