This study investigates the influence of temperature on the electrical resistivity of Portland cement pastes with water–cement ratios (w/c) of 0·3–0·55 at temperatures of 15°C, 20°C and 30°C during the first 72 h. The hyperbolic equation for each sample was established to estimate the ultimate resistivity value that can probably be reached. The higher curing temperature caused a higher resistivity in the period of 72 h, a lower ultimate resistivity and an earlier occurrence time at the peak points on the differential curves. The activation energy of the pore solution (EaS) and the activation energy of the hydration reaction (EaR) were determined based on the electrical resistivity results at the different temperatures. The results of the activation energy by electrical resistivity can be used to develop new maturity functions which can predict strength development under non-isothermal conditions.
