The potential application of electrical conductivity methods in areas dealing with chemical reaction at interfaces is discussed. Attention is given to the alkali—aggregate reaction. The approach is also applied to a specific solid-liquid chemical reaction, i.e. pozzolanic reaction between silica fume and calcium hydroxide solution. New findings appear to be helpful in understanding the chemical reaction processes that occur in these systems.
