Purpose

The purpose of the study is to understand that in the current competitive era, strategic flexibility and entrepreneurial bricolage are considered as very crucial. Several studies analyzed strategic flexibility and bricolage as a capacity to boost performance, while hardly anyone analyzed the moderating effect of technological turbulence over the impact of strategic flexibility and entrepreneurial bricolage on entrepreneurial firms’ performance.

Design/methodology/approach

The researchers collected the data from entrepreneurial firms operating in Pakistan, using adopted questionnaires applying simple random sampling. The collected data was analyzed by applying structural equation modelling using a bootstrapping sample of 5,000 with the help of SmartPLS 3.

Findings

The results indicated a significant positive influence of both bricolage and strategic flexibility over performance. Furthermore, the moderating role of technological turbulence strengthen the impact of entrepreneurial bricolage and strategic flexibility over entrepreneurial firms’ performance.

Originality/value

By investigating the influence of bricolage and strategic flexibility on the performance of entrepreneurial firms, the authors extended the body of literature because it is a theoretical integration of two different theories, i.e. resource-based view and contingency theory.
