Recently, the author was fortunate to attend the Annual South African National Committee on Large Dams (SANCOLD) held in Cape Town. This conference celebrated 50 years of SANCOLD. The title of the conference was ‘Dam safety, maintenance and rehabilitation of dams in Southern Africa’.
