Assessment and optimisation of a bywash channel at Slaithwaite reservoir

Improvement works to the bywash channel at Slaithwaite reservoir were undertaken in early 2022. An assessment, design and subsequent minor construction works were required to satisfy a measure in the interests of safety relating to the capacity of the bywash channel and its use in the context of an emergency at the dam. The on-site plan was revised and re-certified as a result of changes made including outline designs to enable reservoir inflows to be diverted into the bywash.
