It has been shown before that collective pinning behavior in high-Tc superconducting oxides can be reconciled to a model of distribution of activation energies, in their thermally activated flux motion. In this article, the authors provided experimental evidence for such a distribution and showed that this distribution is lognormal as predicted. For this purpose, the distribution of the activation energies in bismuth–strontium–calcium–copper oxide tapes were estimated from magnetic relaxation measurements using the Hagen–Griessen inversion scheme.
