Melting temperatures of Al2O3 and MgO under pressure

The melting temperature–pressure phase diagram for corundum (Al2O3) and magnesium oxide (MgO) are predicted through the Clapeyron equation in which the pressure-dependent volume difference is modeled by introducing the effect of surface stress–induced pressure. Al2O3 and MgO have been employed to test the reliability of the model.
