The UK-based non-governmental organisation Turquoise Mountain was asked by the Myanmar government to lead the regeneration of the Tourist Burma Building – one of the most important historic landmark buildings at the centre point of Yangon’s Downtown, next to the Sule Pagoda. Turquoise Mountain first looked around the building in May 2016, straight after completing their first project in Myanmar at 491–501 Merchant Street, and works started on-site in November 2017, with the first event held within the finished space in the summer of 2019.
