Sustainable forest management certification and forestry production

This paper empirically examines the association between forest management certification and forestry production. The analysis focuses on the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) certification systems. It is observed that forest certification is positively associated with forest production, particularly at the harvesting stage, while PEFC certification is negatively associated with production at the processed stage. The results show that FSC certification appears to be more associated with forest production. The analysis highlights differences related to income level and exposure to corruption.
