A knowledge-based (expert) system is described which can be used to assist with the interpretation of geotechnical data. It can help a geotechnical specialist with the processing of raw site investigation data to arrive at interpreted design parameters and a model of the ground conditions. The role of the system and its potential users are discussed. It is argued that such systems can provide an integrating link between existing software packages by filling a gap in computer-aided geotechnical design.
L'article decrit un systéme expert aidant l'interprétation de donnees géotecniques. Il peut aider le géotechnicien à interpréter, &grave partir des données brutes de terrain, les paramétres de projet et le modèle des conditions de terrain. Le rôle du systéme et ses utilisateurs potentiels sont étudiés. II apparait que de tels systémes pourraient faire la liaison avec les logiciels existants en comblant le fossé existant dans le design assisté par ordinateur.
