Le but de cette étude est la mesure des forces intergranulaires dans un milieu formé de deux mille sphères en matière plastique de deux diamètres, contenues dans une membrane en caoutchouc, laquelle est soumise à une pression hydrostatique. On donne la loi de fréquence de la valeur de ces forces intergranulaires. ainsi qu'une étude théorique permettant de calculer leur valeur moyenne. La comparaison entre la théorie et l'expérience est asses satisfaisante.

D'autre part, on a essayé une visualisation photoélastique dans une coupe du milieu.

The object of this study is to measure intergranular forces in a medium formed by two thousand plastic spheres of two diameters, contained in a rubber membrane, the latter being subjected to a hydrostatic pressure. The frequency law of the intergranular forces is given, as well as a theoretical study by which their mean value can be calculated; the comparison between theory and experience is fairly satisfactory.

Moreover, an attempt has been made to visualize photoelastically the stresses in a slice of the medium.
