N_q factor for pile foundations by Berezantzev Available to Purchase

For the end bearing capacity of piles in sand, the bearing capacity factor N_q by Berezantzev et al. (1961) is used by many engineers, and was also adopted by Poulos (1980), Tomlinson (1994) and Murthy (2003), as well as some building codes. Vesic (1967) has pointed out that there is a great variation in the theoretical values of N_q, but the values by Berezantzev appear to fit the available test data. Berezantzev's values are smaller than the corresponding values by Vesic or Meyerhof, and are generally accepted to be conservative.
