Studies of the strength and deformation characteristics of rubber tyre chips have been performed using conventional triaxial compression tests. The tests were conducted on rubber tyre chips with the steel wires removed. According to ASTM (1998), tyre chips are defined as pieces of shredded rubber tyres, generally between 12 mm and 50 mm in size, that have most of the wire removed.
