A hybrid numerical approach based on precise integration algorithm (PIA) and mixed variable formulation (MVF) of the wave motion equation is proposed for the soil–structure interaction (SSI) analysis on anisotropic multi-layered half-space. The wave propagation in general anisotropic stratified soil overlying an elastic half-space is solved analytically in the frequency wave-number domain and the integration is performed by PIA. Very high accuracy can be achieved. The MVF of the wave motion equation makes the assembly of layers simple and convenient. All calculation is based on matrix algebra; effective digits are preserved and computational effort can be saved to a great extent. The computation is always stable. Numerical examples for evaluation of the dynamic impedance of a foundation on anisotropic stratified soil are provided. The effectiveness of the proposed approach is validated.
