An analytical model of two-dimensional electro-osmotic consolidation is presented. The negative excess pore pressure and degree of consolidation due to electroosmosis are investigated in comparison with preloading consolidation. The model is evaluated using the results of a well-known electro-osmotic consolidation field test reported in the literature, and is shown to be consistent with the results of the shear strength measurement.
