This paper describes the results of compaction of soils prone to slump-type settlement during the construction of a residential military post in the town of Budennovsk, with extensive application of the method of tamped soil cushions. The paper also describes the results of compaction of soils prone to slump-type settlement by a combined method, including making tamped soil cushions in the presence of soil settlement caused by preliminary wetting.
