Purpose

This study aims to investigate the influence of stakeholders’ engagement on both corporate digital responsibility (CDR) and corporate sustainable performance (CSP) within travel agencies and hotels, considering the moderating role of responsible artificial intelligence (AI).

Design/methodology/approach

The study uses PLS-SEM to analyze 483 survey responses gathered from travel agencies and hotels to test four research hypotheses.

Findings

It is revealed that stakeholders’ engagement is a direct predictor of CDR and indirect antecedent of CSP. The latter, SCP, is also predicted by CDR. AI is moderating the association between CDR and SCP.

Originality/value

The study deepens scholarly discourse across multiple disciplines (tourism and hospitality, sustainability and responsible AI). It develops and assesses a novel framework that connects stakeholders’ engagement, CDR and CSP, and the first using AI as a moderator, especially within the tourism and hospitality context.
