This study aims to explore the current Maqasid Shariah disclosure practices by a Malaysian Shariah-compliant company (ShCC) which known as Company S Berhad.
A document analysis was conducted on Company S Berhad Annual Report 2023 and it was aligned with the Maqasid Al-Shariah Guidance Islamic Capital Market Malaysia issued by the Securities Commission of Malaysia (SC) in November 2023.
In overall, empirical findings show that Company S Berhad’s business activities and operations have mostly observed all Maqasid Shariah elements including protection of faith (al-din), protection of life (al-nafs), protection of intellect (al-‘aql), protection of lineage (al-nasl) and protection of wealth (al-mal). Besides, based on six aspirations and 15 principles derives from Maqasid Shariah guidance issued by the SC, it is found that only Principle 14 which is maximising wealth distribution with focus on social finance does not have any related Maqasid Shariah disclosure from Company S Berhad.
