This research aims to analyze the empirical literature on Islamic crowdfunding from Scopus and Web of Science (WoS) databases. The purpose of this study is to identify global research patterns and key findings relevant to academics and institutions included in organizing crowdfunding activities.
This study reviews empirical literature on Islamic crowdfunding from 2014 to June 2024, using data obtained from the Scopus and WoS databases. A hybrid method combining bibliometric and content analysis was applied to selected articles, analyzed with RStudio and VOSviewer tools.
The results showed that four distinct themes in the existing literature on Islamic crowdfunding covered the Islamic crowdfunding and platform, model and factor, technology and waqf which offer important insights for future research directions.
This study is limited to English-language publications from Scopus and WoS. Future research should consider multilingual sources and additional databases to enhance depth of analysis. The research also offers theoretical implications for scholars aiming to publish in leading journals and provides a roadmap for future studies on Islamic crowdfunding. Practically, the findings support policymakers in developing relevant regulations and encourage practitioners to enhance Islamic crowdfunding platform innovations.
To the best of the author’s knowledge, this is the first comprehensive bibliometric and content analysis of Islamic crowdfunding that integrates data from both Scopus and WoS. By combining quantitative and qualitative approaches, the study offers a more robust understanding of research trends and emerging themes in the field.
