Synopsis
The Paper describes the urban flooding problems in the River Trent valley affecting the City of Nottingham and adjacent Urban Districts, the worsening of conditions due to urban development in the flood plains, and the methods of dealing with the problem. Owing to lack of facilities in Great Britain, an hydraulic model was constructed by Professor Thijsse at Delft University, Holland, and thirty-one separate schemes were investigated. The Paper concludes with a description of the scheme finally adopted, which is now being carried out.
