A simple theory is developed which gives the thermal conductivity of concrete in terms of the thermal conductivity of its constituents. The predictions of this theory concerning the variation of the thermal conductivity of concrete with moisture content have been tested by experiment and have been found correct; this experimental work covers the effect of moisture content on the thermal conductivity of concrete made with three different aggregates, namely, dolerite, haematite and barytes.
