The influence of differential creep and shrinkage upon prestressed concrete ring structures is discussed. Expressions have been developed for finding the variation of stress and strain with time in a flexurally restrained prestressed concrete beam subjected to temperature gradient. It has been concluded that the creep phenomena can be used to the best advantage by pre-heating such structures.
