An attempt has been made to measure the work done in compacting a known weight of concrete using an electrical vibrator. Tests have been carried out so that estimates of the electrical anti frictional losses could be made, thereby enabling the net work done in compacting the concrete to be calculated. The results obtained by this method have been compared with the results of compacting factor tests made on the same concretes.
