Tests conducted on eight T beams subjected to negative moments at the ends and positive moment near midspan are described. The moment-curvature relationships for various sections and the distribution of flexural rigidity, EI, along the beam are discussed. A simplified design procedure is suggested to determine the equivalent EI value for T beams to be used in the limit design of reinforced concrete frames.
