Synopsis
Predicting the workability of fibre-reinforced composites is difficult because of the large number of parameters involved. However, by standardizing on the unreinforced concrete or mortar mixes, it has been possible to determine the effect of type, aspect ratio and volume fraction of various steel fibres upon the slump and Vebe times of these particular concretes and mortars. These relationships should be useful when designing fibrous mixes for any of the types of fibre used: plain round, Duoform, crimped and hooked steel fibres.
