The modes of failure and the ultimate strength of deep reinforced concrete flanged beams with stiffeners can be predicted. The major contributions to the ultimate strength come from the strength of the web and the main reinforcement. A simple method is proposed for the analysis of reinforced concrete flanged beams with stiffeners. Results from micro-concrete model tests and also tests carried out at the Polytechnic of Central London and Concordia University, Canada, are compared with the proposed method of analysis.
