Influence of free water in concrete on the cracking process

An experimental study has shown that the presence of free water in a microconcrete renders its fracture toughness dependent on crack velocity. This leads to the conclusion that a wet concrete does not have an intrinsic fracture toughness even under quasisteady crack propagation conditions.
