Alkali-activated slag cementing materials were invented over 30 years ago. Alkali-activated slag concrete has many advantages over ordinary concrete, such as high strength, low production cost and good durability. However, its application has not been widespread, apart from trials in the USSR, because some problems persist. After five years of systematic study of this fascinating material, a good prospect for its application has been discerned. The main purpose of this Paper is to contribute to the continuing study of alkali-activated slag concrete by sharing some experiences of both success and failure, so as to forestall unnecessarily repetitive research work.
