The objective of this Paper is to develop model materials, including microconcrete and model reinforcing, with the consideration of bond similitude. The mechanical properties of the developed model materials were compared with those of the normal reinforced concrete found in literature, and were found to be reasonably good. Therefore, these model materials were used to perform small-scale reinforced concrete frame tests, as reported in the companion Paper.
