Depths of carbonation at an age of 8·3 years are reported for concretes prepared using one Portland cement and for companion concretes in which 35% by mass of the Portland cement was replaced by one or other of two types of pfa. It is shown that the depth of carbonation in Portland/pfa concretes is similar to that in Portland cement concretes of similar 28-day compressive strength.
