This paper describes tests carried out on site to determine friction loss in Freyssinet cables in lead-lined steel Kopex tube,* the results of which largely confirm some of the figures published previously by Cooley.† The tests were based on force measurements and it is shown that extension measurements may not always be reliable. It is shown also that the effect of friction may result in the cable tension at the centre-line being higher than that at the anchorages.
