Design and construction of a submarine outfall in Murcia, Spain

This paper describes the design and construction of a submarine outfall in the province of Murcia, Spain. The construction design was produced by Iberinsa in March 2004 and construction took place in 2004–2005. The factors which influenced the design are identified and the construction programme is described in detail. The actions taken to safeguard the environment during the construction and to monitor the environmental impacts, particularly with respect to a marine meadow that lies off the coast, are also reported.
