This study aimed to investigate the impact of workplace incivility on job performance in India’s gig economy, examining the mediating roles of organisational culture and psychological well-being and the moderating effect of digital literacy. Data were collected from 461 gig workers across various Indian digital platforms. The study employed structural equation modelling and moderated mediation analyses to examine the relationships between the variables. Workplace incivility negatively impacted job performance, partially mediated by organisational culture and psychological well-being. Digital literacy moderated this relationship, reducing incivility’s negative effect. A significant three-way interaction emerged between incivility, digital literacy, and the mediators. This study uniquely explored workplace incivility in India’s gig economy, examining its relation with organisational culture, psychological well-being, and digital literacy. It offers new insights into job performance factors in this growing sector. The findings highlight the need to address workplace incivility in digital labour markets, emphasising the importance of fostering positive organisational cultures, supporting workers’ psychological well-being, and enhancing digital literacy skills.
