Describes the improvement in quality audit procedures brought about by the use of hand‐held computers at Leyland Daf. Discusses the quality audit problems that existed prior to the use of portables, the current inspection process, the hardware used, and the software development. Concludes that hand‐held computers have delivered a standardised quality audit system enabling a quicker response to problems, to form the foundation for further developments.
