Globally, urban planning and transportation policies are shifting from car-centred to human-centred, and in particular, an efficient connection and integration of public transportation are emerging as important tasks in large cities such as Seoul. The rapid increase in transportation demand due to rapid urbanisation has led to congestion and increased social costs, and the Seoul Metropolitan Government is establishing a public transportation-oriented system to solve these problems. As a result, it is necessary to provide better services to users and improve accessibility of public transportation. In response, this study applies a walkability index to assess accessibility between modes in the public transportation transfer system and proposes improvement measures to problematic facilities, focusing on Gangnam Station, where public transportation transfers occur frequently. A pedestrian network was constructed using the geographic information system, and a walkability index was calculated using building data to suggest ways to improve public transportation facilities, and the difference before and after improvement was quantitatively determined.
