Shepway District Council is a coastal local authority in East Kent. It has been committed to recycling for nearly 30 years and has been struggling, due to financial limitations, to reach the Government's recycling targets. This paper considers how the council, in collaboration with Kent County Council, has started to tackle organic waste and provides details of trial schemes recently initiated.
