Periodically, as a civil engineer, I am asked for my view on how to develop urban areas from the position of providing and managing public infrastructure. More recently, along with colleagues from the Municipal Expert Panel, I have been tasked within the Institution of Civil Engineers to report on Future Cities Standards.
