This article compares and analyzes health care financing in the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) countries along two dimensions: (a) revenue sources and overall expenditures for health care, and (b) the mechanisms for reimbursement of hospitals and physicians. Comparisons of health care financing data and health care reimbursement systems in these industrialized countries reveal several findings that should interest policy makers who are pondering health reforms.
